Die Alpen-Puppenschnecke (Pupilla alpicola) ist eine ca. 3 mm kleine Schneckenart und lebt in der feuchten Streu- und Moosschicht von Flachmooren und nassen Wiesen in hohen Lagen. Seltener kann sie auch unter Stein und Geröll in Kalkblockschutthalden angetroffen werden. Aufgrund ihrer spezifischen Lebensraumansprüche und der beschränkten Bewegungsrate reagiert die kleine Schneckenart empfindlich auf klimatisch- oder nutzungsbedingte Veränderungen in ihrem Lebensraum. Dies dürfte der Grund sein, weshalb die Alpen-Puppenschnecke gesamtschweizerisch als «stark gefährdet» gilt.
